About Leanne

A privilege

It is a genuine privilege to work alongside people as they navigate some of life’s most difficult experiences.

After more than 20 years in psychology, I continue to be moved by the courage people bring to therapy and by what can become possible within a genuinely engaged therapeutic relationship.

For me, therapy is more than helping someone feel better. It is a space to understand yourself more deeply, make sense of the experiences that have shaped you and begin to find different ways of feeling, relating and living.

Understanding and change

Many of the struggles we experience make sense when understood in the context of our lives.

Rather than beginning with what is wrong, I am interested in what has happened, how your experiences have shaped you and what your emotions may be trying to communicate.

Understanding does not mean remaining stuck in the past. It gives us a place from which something different can begin.

My philosophy

My work is grounded in a humanistic, experiential and relational approach to psychotherapy.

Every person brings a different story, different values and different hopes for therapy. I do not expect you to fit a particular model. I draw from established psychological approaches while remaining responsive to you and what emerges in our work together.

I believe my most important role is to be fully present, to understand your emotional world and to help create the conditions in which change can become possible.

Working together

I’m a warm, engaged and interactive therapist. I listen deeply, but I do not simply sit back. I’ll be alongside you, helping us understand what is happening and finding a way forward together.

Therapy can be challenging at times, but it can also be warm and lively. There is room for humour too.
